33 North: Our Story

Do you know how rare it is to find someone who is, all at once, your closest friend, your great love, and your business partner?

We didn't know either. Not until we found it in each other.

Hi. We're Desirae and Alex, and this is the story of how two people and one shared vision became 33 North Massage.

November 2024: the moment we caught the vibe

We met in early November of 2024.

We locked eyes and instantly caught a vibe. Honestly, we still laugh about it. There's no more technical way to say it. The room did that thing where it gets a little quieter and a little brighter at the same time, and neither of us could quite look away.

At the time, we had no idea about the gravity of it. We didn't know what that first glance was the beginning of: the late-night conversations, the shared dream, the business, the life. We just knew we were captivated by one another.

So we did the wise thing. We didn't rush it.

We started as friends. And from there it grew the way the best things grow, a little at a time, into something more. Something magical. Something that felt like a homecoming, as if some part of each of us had been holding a door open for the other the whole time.

Hands and brains

Here's the part people always smile at when we explain it:

Desirae is the hands of the business. Alex is the brains.

Desirae heals with her hands. That's not a figure of speech. It's a craft, and a calling. She reads tension the way other people read a page, finds the knot beneath the knot, and gives the body permission to finally let go. Deep tissue, and deeper care. When you leave her table, you leave lighter than you came. That's the whole point.

Alex is the brains, and in our case, the brains built something real. Behind every easy booking, every confirmation that lands in your inbox at the right moment, every reminder, every smooth checkout, there's a quiet nervous system humming away. Alex built that. It's a platform called Sophosic, wisdom-rooted, AI-powered, the invisible architecture that lets a small Arizona massage practice run like it has a team of ten. So that the hands are free to do what only the hands can do: heal.

Touch and technology. Heart and code.

We complement each other so completely that it sometimes startles us. Where one of us ends, the other begins, and somewhere in the overlap is 33 North.

Why "33 North"

Run your finger along a globe until you find the 33rd parallel north, the invisible line that circles the entire planet. Follow it across oceans and continents, and somewhere over the warm red sweep of the Arizona desert, it passes right through us.

That's where the name comes from. That's where we are. 33 North.

We love that our name is a coordinate, because that's how this whole thing has felt. Like two people who were somehow always headed for the same point on the map, and just had to live long enough to arrive there together. The desert is a place people come to heal and start over. We couldn't think of anywhere more fitting to put down roots.

What we're here to do

Our vision has been the same since the very first of those late-night conversations: to help, to heal, and to keep expanding our horizon.

We're here for the community, with holistic solutions that treat the whole person, not just the sore shoulder. We believe healing isn't a luxury; it's maintenance for being human. A good massage can reset a hard week. And a small, local, lovingly-run practice can do something the big chains can't: know you. Remember your name, your knots, your story.

And we believe, maybe more than anything, that the best work comes from people who love what they do, and love the person they do it beside.

We're building 33 North one pair of healing hands and one good idea at a time. We're not in a hurry, and we're not standing still. We're expanding our horizon, together, and we'd love for you to be part of where it goes next.
